US Military will read your Facebook, email and more!

US Military will read your Facebook, email and more!

The article

United States Senator John McCain recently proposed a law that will allow the US Military to monitor your activities and information on the internet. The reason being Homeland security. If you ask me it is just another attempt to breach your civil rights. With the fall of S.O.P.A. in January, the question is will this law go down in flames as well? Most Americans don't like having their information accessed by anyone. Some people may think that internet activity is mainly blogs and social networking but many may not realize that ALL of your information can be accessed through the internet if security was not stopping for the researching party from access ing this information.

This information includes social security number, bank statements, medical information, credit cards and more. Seriously, why should I give up my privacy for homeland security? I think there has to be a much better solution to this issue than just giving up my right to my privacy. I do believe the patriot act was passed because of this issue and we have already addressed homeland security and given up some of our civil rights when it was passed. Why do I have allow the US Government even more access to my personal information?

It seems that no matter what, Congress is always trying to find some excuse to allow our privacy on the internet to no longer exist. It have only been a little more than 30 days since S.O.P.A. was dismissed and we are already hearing about internet privacy again. I absolutely refuse to allow ANYONE to have full access to all of the information on the internet. Who is to say that the US military even knows what they are doing when they access this information? For all I know the personnel that is accessing the information could have a Virus and release it into a database without my knowledge? Would they be held responsible for damages? Would anyone even know that they accessed the information to begin with? I wouldn't want to go to the bank and find out all of my information was accessed, erased and unable to be found because the US military had someone go into my Bank's database and accidentally erased my information because they didn't know what they were doing or had some sort of virus.

When these "internet privacy issues are addressed there is definitely a vast amount of topics that will need to be addressed. After all, we are talking about the compilation of almost all of the information that is available in the world. People considering whether or not this should pass may not only realize that this exists but also what the complexity of this issue is and how much of an impact it could have on society given that almost everything in the world operates off or solely on information passing through the internet.

Take away my privacy on the internet? I said NO in January and I am saying NO again.
