Stolen Valor Act
The Stolen Valor Act... All I can say is that I am a huge supporter; More so maybe after reading this article. I strongly believe that persons impersonating our men and service women should be prosecuted to the furthest extend possible. It is such a huge service to be active in protecting our freedom and the freedom of our country and I feel that this should not be something that someone should lie about. Veterans are treated with the utmost respect and honor, and am completely appalled by persons trying to impersonate this service.
Here's a link on this from ABC News

I agree! It is very disrespectful to the men and women who have served for our country. They dedicated a lot of their hard work, time, and lives for us. People should not be able to lie about being a member of the military.
ReplyDeleteIt sickens me that someone could make a false claim to something that any men and women have given so much, maybe even their lives, to earn. There should be punishment for committing such a heinous act. I feel it is harmful and does not fall under the category of "free speech"
ReplyDeleteHere is a website that contains a database of those who have actually earned Valor Awards: http://militarytimes.com/citations-medals-awards/
Military service can earn a person certain privileges and respect. I personally have heard peoplpe who were not in the military lioe about it and claim to have served to garner prestige in a social situation. I have also witnessed soldiers who served exaggerate the extent of their service or wartime duty. It is a sad stae of affairs. Our veterans served ans risked their lives many soldiers do not ever return home. It is illegal to impersonate a police officer or attorney and the same should be true of military duty.
