U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) spokesman Richard Meyer, a special agent and public information officer for the DEA's San Francisco office, stated the following, as reported on Aug. 19, 2004 by the Lake County Record-Bee:
"According to the United States Constitution there is a supremacy clause, which says that in case of conflict federal law precedes state law. According to federal law, there is no such thing as medical marijuana. Marijuana is a dangerous drug that the United States Congress has classified as a Schedule One substance. A Schedule One substance doesn't have any accepted medical use in the United States and a high potential for abuse."

Proponents of medical marijuana argue that it can be a safe and effective treatment for theOpponents of medical marijuana argue that it is too dangerous to use, lacks FDA-approval, and that various legal drugs make marijuana use unnecessary. They say marijuana is addictive, leads to harder drug use, interferes with fertility, impairs driving ability, and injures the lungs, immune system, and brain. They say that medical marijuana is a front for drug legalization and recreational use. My Question is why dont they outlaw Alcohol again then? Alcohol abuse can lead to HEART DISEASE, ESOPHAGUL CANCER, KIDNEY FAILURE, PROSTATE CANCER, CIRRHOSIS OF LIVER, STROKE, THESE ARE JUST A FEW EXAMPLES AMONG THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF OTHER ALCOHOL RELATED DEATHS A YEAR.symptoms of cancer, AIDS,multiple sclerosis , pain, glaucoma, epilepsy, and other conditions. They cite dozens of peer-reviewed studies, prominent medical organizations, major government reports, and the use of marijuana as medicine throughout world history.
It is my point of view that we need to change What schedule classification Marijuana has. We know that it does have medical uses so why is it still classified with LSD, Heroin, MDMA, and Methaqualone. While Marijuana sits as a schedule I drug, Cocaine, Morphine, Dilauded, Demerol, Oxycodone, Fentanyl(the strongest most physically addictive substance known to man), Phenobarbytol, Amphetamines, and Methamphetamine classify as schedule II substances which allow them to be prescribed by doctors.
You have seemingly asked and answered your own question. Why don't they? I will tell in plain English. Because the pharmaceutical companies CANNOT patten a plant. It is a weed and grows wild. They cannot patten the opium plant or Poppy,
ReplyDeleteYet they can derive drugs from it. marijuana is a 2 chem. plant that's all. Pharmacies will never be able to duplicate to an exact match THC. therefore it will remain as it is. FOR NOW..
The magical plant of marijuana. In my opion it is a harmless drug, i dont see anyone hurting someone off of weed. It will be a long time before i think it is completely legal. But i think it will happen at some point. it mite be easier to legalize it if people didnt abuse the system so far with weed cards.
