I really don't understand the constant need to talk about abortions. How is it a political issue? Isn't this a social issue to be decided by society? It always amazes me how politics gets so involved in this issue and then can't make up their minds either. The governor didn't get a good response so he changes his mind, that just seems like bs to me. Like in the article I wish we could talk more about the economy!!!
I agree. This is a social issue but as Professor Ellerman explained in class this topic started out as a moral issue and quickly became a concern for law since it is a difficult subject to deal with and people feel so strongly about it. I agree that the economy is more important right now. One of the biggest concerns that have an impact on people who have abortions is whether or not they can afford to take care of a child. Having the money to support a child is important to a parent and if we can improve our economy I believe that this may have some affect on abortions. Let alone, taking care of yourself in a harsh economy is tough enough. The topic for abortions is important to me but it isn't as important when we are in the midst of a fuel crisis, downed economy, and employment rates higher than the great depression.
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that it's always a bunch of old men deciding what woman can do. I don't know this for a fact, but someone recently told me that you can get Viagra from health care. It just seems like a ridiculous bias that men could get a pill to get off but we keep trying demanding woman meet certain standards before they can do what they want with theirs.
ReplyDeleteThis is a political issue as well as a woman's right to do what she chooses with her own body. But this is also an issue that cuts deeply into are moral's and unless you are a woman that has this issue first hand I don't think ANYONE would truly understand .
ReplyDeleteBut to understand abortion you need to look at it as a reaction from an action. what happened to make the woman choose to abort this child?
